Municipal Market

Known as Mercadão (“Big Market”), the City Market of São Paulo is one of the main touristic attractions in the city. People and restaurant owners go there to stock up on a variety of spices and food, like fruits, vegetables, grains, meat, fish and seafood, always fresh and at welcoming prices.

The building, inaugurated in 1933, was planned by renowned brazilian architect Ramos de Azevedo (1851-1928).

While observing the beatiful vitrals, the visitor can taste the most famous snacks of Mercadão: bologna sandwiches and cod pastries.

On the mezzanine there is a gourmet area with restaurants and snack bars.
